General Information
A digital platform supporting knowledge sharing, collaboration, and professional development across the Caribbean electric utility sector and connecting the employees of CARILEC’s membership as well as CARILEC’s partners and sponsors. It includes tools for discussion, learning, document exchange, and access to digital media resources. The platform is to support CARILEC members to advance their business goals, optimize their enterprise, document lessons learned, and strengthen the incoming and current regional workforce.
Employees of CARILEC member organizations get full access via Single Sign-On (SSO) upon registration. Some limited public content (e.g., blogs, select webinars) is available without login. Some of the CAREC experiences are exclusive to utility members. However, the programming creates opportunities for all CARILEC members to engage.
Access is included as part of CARILEC membership dues. Non-members may access limited free content. Some activities do have their own specific costs e.g conferences, third-party courses, utility working tours.

Working Groups
Specialized peer groups that meet quarterly (or more) to share experiences, challenges, lessons learned, and new projects within a specific focus area (e.g., energy storage, utility finance, workforce development, etc.). The working groups are accessible only to CARILEC members. A majority of the working groups are utility-only.
Working groups give you a unique opportunity to connect, contribute, and grow as a professional.
By participating, you gain access to a trusted network of peers facing similar challenges across the region. You’ll have the chance to exchange insights, ask real-world questions, and learn from others’ successes—and mistakes—before making big decisions in your own organization. It’s a way to stay ahead of trends, benchmark your efforts, and build confidence through collaboration. Even if you can’t travel to every event, working groups keep you connected to the pulse of the industry.
For organizations, working group participation is a low-cost, high-impact way to build capacity, develop talent, and bring back practical, up-to-date knowledge that can inform strategy and improve performance. Team members who participate become internal ambassadors for new thinking, tested approaches, and regional best practices. At just two hours per quarter, it’s a smart investment that supports continuous learning—especially for those with specific responsibilities tied to energy transition, resilience, disaster response, or leadership.
For CARILEC, working groups are essential to delivering value across such a diverse membership. With over 34 utilities in different countries and more than 110 member companies, it’s a challenge—and an opportunity—to create programming that is relevant, timely, and contextualized. Working groups help us co-create meaningful content and experiences, while easing the pressure on our small internal team. They also allow members to take charge, lead with their expertise, and contribute to shaping the future of the region’s energy landscape.
In short, the knowledge of the many is wisdom—and working groups are where that wisdom is shared, developed, and turned into action
Contact the CARILEC Secretariat or visit the group’s section on the platform. Participation is open to utility staff from member organizations.
There are some groups available to non-utility members.
.
Members present case studies, discuss initiatives, identify shared challenges, and propose knowledge resources that can benefit the collective community (e.g., webinars, reports, templates, articles, stories). Members can also indicate resources that are needed so that CARILEC can advocate on behalf of the membership to find resources, expertise or necessary skills, or technical assistance.
A typical working group meeting runs for 1 to 2 hours and includes focused knowledge sharing, peer discussion, and light action planning. Members may present updates, exchange lessons learned, and collaborate on common challenges aligned with key themes like energy transition, disaster response, or leadership. The structure keeps engagement high, encourages diverse input, and ensures tangible outcomes without heavy time demands.
Working group insights are carefully captured and shared in ways that protect member confidentiality while adding value to the entire CARILEC community. No private or sensitive information is ever shared, but collective insights, lessons learned, and recommendations are synthesized into best-practice documents, discussion prompts, or summary briefs.
All meeting notes are transcribed and shared with the group, allowing members to access them as needed for future reference. These outputs are published in the Document Exchange section of the platform, where members can easily access and build on the knowledge. In some cases, takeaway questions from meetings are used to spark deeper dialogue in the online forum, while recurring themes and solutions help shape in-person learning activities, training workshops, and even conference agendas—ensuring that working group contributions influence the broader direction of knowledge-sharing across CARILEC.
