WEBINAR

Recording:

Overview:

The Atlantic Hurricane Season makes it essential for CARILEC’s membership and the broader Caribbean to understand howdistributed (rooftop) and utility-scale solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems are prepared for and respond to extreme weather.

Pelican Energy TCI (formerly FORTIS TCI) is committed to ensuring the resilience of its solar PV installations in the Turks and CaicosIslands.  On July 9th 2025, the Pelican Energy TCI Team contributed to the CAREC Community by bringing the utility’s expertstogether to discuss best practices, system hardening, recovery strategies, and how solar energy can enhance grid resilience in natural disasters.

Insights Explored:

  • Designing Solar Photovoltaics (PV) integration for hurricane durability
  • Utility readiness and coordination for emergency operations
  • Recovery strategies and lessons from events
  • The role of storage and microgrids in island utilities
